Updated: Oct 17, 2019

Grab a slice of this awesome New York-style grasshopper pizza before it's gone in downtown Las Vegas.

As reported in USA Today, a very cool pizzeria on Fremont Street called Evel Pie has caught the attention of both the media and foodie's around the world. Why? Well about two weeks ago, a swarm of grasshoppers landed in Sin City. Some people blame climate change, others refer to the bible as a sign to the end of the world. Regardless of the reason, restaurants like Evel Pie have been capitalizing on these winged bugs by cleverly adding them to their menus.

The Canyon Hopper

Cleverly named after both the leaping ability of grasshoppers and daredevil Evel Knievel with his failed jump across the Snake River Canyon, the "Canyon Hopper" pizza consists of a delicious blend of goat cheese, chorizo, arugula and of course grasshoppers. Now some of you might be freaking out and think that they just swat the critters and toss them on your pizza - no. They actually ordered these seasoned grasshoppers off Amazon and had them delivered via Amazon Prime style just like how you would prefer your stuff shipped.

I happened to be in town and was very familiar with downtown Las Vegas. Evel Pie is located on 508 Fremont Street. So after an Uber ride from the Bellagio, I was dropped off right in front of this establishment. I sat at the bar and ordered a pint of Big Dog's Underbite Double IPA and a slice of the Canyon Hopper pizza. It came out very hot out of the oven. I sprinkled some hot peppers and took my first bite - damn, it was good. I eventually picked out one of the grasshoppers so I could taste it. It tasted salty but good, I just wish there were a few more on the pizza.

If you happen to be Las Vegas, you should stop by soon before this one-of-a-kind pizza is gone!
