The brand new United Polaris Lounge at SFO

If you have a stupid amount of money and live in the San Francisco Bay Area or travel through Silicon Valley in business-class, you might want to book your next flight with United Airlines so you can access the new United Polaris Lounge, which opened on April 30th, 2018.

San Francisco International Airport (SFO) is currently in the middle of an estimated $2.4 billion expansion. Lucky for you this two-story United Polaris Lounge opened before most of the expansion upgrades have been completed.

As you enter this 28,120 square foot airport lounge, you'll take a short escalator ride up to find a place to relax in one of the 440 seats. The United Polaris Lounge in SFO overlooks most of the airport and offers only the best amenities such as Saks Fifth Avenue bedding and pillows. Comfort is the main focus of this airport lounge and also ensuring you have a ton of privacy and the United Polaris Lounge is designed to offer you plenty of that.

Most airport lounges these days just get too crowded. Many people now have access to airport lounges that they never had before. This is mostly due to the airport lounge perks that some luxury credit cards like the Chase Sapphire Reserve does (I talk about that here).

As you walk around the United Polaris Lounge in SFO, you'll see the multiple seating options to unwind before your flight, which includes the Signature Polaris Seat. Personally I really enjoy nice lounges like this before long-haul flights where you can feel like you're at home and you can plug-in your laptop, enjoy a nice meal, grab a drink or take a shower.

You'll be welcomed with first-class service. There is even a private dining room with table service. The menu was designed by Chef Tritia Gestuvo, which was developed based off of the San Francisco Bay Area population, which is a mix of Californian and Asian foods. There were many employees walking around, cleaning up dirty dishes and providing assistance if needed.

One of the best perks were the individual bathrooms. The only negative was that the bathroom did not have a private shower. You'll have to shower in a designated shower area, but they are private and spa-like. This alone is well worth coming to the brand new United Polaris Lounge at San Francisco International Airport.
