Priority Pass Review: The Club at SJC

Updated: Oct 18, 2019

The Club at SJC is one of my favorite Priority Pass airport lounges. This award-winning lounge is located inside the Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport in San Jose, California.

Update: There are now two lounges at SJC, both named "The Club". You can read more about the new lounge here.

The Club at SJC

The Club at SJC open since 2013 at Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport, is one of over 1,000 airport lounges in the Priority Pass network. If you aren't a Priority Pass member and are interested, you can sign up here. You'll also have this membership if you already carry the Chase Sapphire Reserve or American Express Platinum credit card. So don't forget to use this valuable perk!

The lounge is located on the third floor, across Gate 15, which is the international terminal.

This section of the airport connects both Terminal A and Terminal B. Check-in is very simple. Just show your boarding pass and your physical or digital Priority Pass card and within a couple minutes you're checked in.

This award-winning lounge just won "Best Airport Service/Amenity" by USA Today's 10Best Readers Choice in 2018.

Food and drink options

The food and drink options at The Club at SJC used to be fairly decent. They have a nice spread of marinated olives, pasta, fresh fruits and vegetables. Also, in the not to distant past, they used to serve hot food, but now we've learned that they will no longer serve hot food going forward. Bummer.

There's also a decent choice of snacks like granola bars, popcorn, chips and instant ramen. For drinks, there's bottled water, coffee, tea and sodas. There is also a nice bar located at this lounge with draft beer and wine.

Plug in while you wait for your flight

The Club at SJC has two main sections. After you check-in and if you stay towards the left side, you'll find many personal spaces to plug in your devices to work or to entertain yourself. There's also a couple of round tables and towards the back there's some small sofa chairs.

The right side of the lounge is where you'll find the food and drinks and some high-table tops spots to plug in your devices. There is also plenty of seating with television to catch up on the news or the game. The Wi-Fi is also very fast as I was able to quickly sign into the network and catch up on social media or emails.

In addition to the areas above, there is a conference room, newspapers and magazines, telephone and fax options and your flight information is displayed. You'll also have the staff randomly walk through the lounge to announce departing flights, which is a nice service.

The restrooms and shower

The restrooms are located towards the back of the lounge. It's probably the only downside to this Priority Pass lounge because they are very small. However, my wife and I never had to wait to use the urinal. This lounge does have a shower, but since I live so close to this airport, I probably will never have a chance to use it.

To summarize, The Club at SJC is a very nice Priority Pass lounge. My wife and I try to swing by anytime we depart using this airport and we've come here when it was very empty and also when it's been fairly packed. The times when it's packed isn't that bad because we noticed the turnaround time for departing flights, especially the international flights would almost clear up the entire lounge.
